It has been known that social media sites are coming and going, but these social platforms listed below have stood the test of time. The visitors come from different areas all over the world and the number of active users is growing per day.

Facebook

  To start with, facebook site is an example of a natural result of the development of social media sites. It is seen as the biggest online social media networking service designed by Mark Zuckerberg in his Harvard dorm room. At first Mark and his friend Eduardo Saverin begun facebook as a game named facemash in 2003 by presenting two pictures and ask his classmates if they were hot or not after that the name changed to facebook. It launched on February 4, 2004 and grew up rapidly across Us and all over the world with the help of his friends Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughe.

Facebook has become one of the most social media platforms because it is personal and rapid. Instagram

Instagram is another social networking platform owned by facebook in which there is a photo and video sharing service. It was designed by Kevin Systrom and Mike Grieger in October 2010.  Twitter was developed in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams and initiated in July of the same year.  This is an online news and social network service that enables users to post images, videos and short messages named tweets. Not only allows people to connect, but also to politically and economically share interest and activities. An important service to remember about this online platform is that it allows people to use twitter as a business tool to advertise their business services, shop directly through tweets or just reporting some news. It became popular due to the entry of limited message size to 280 characters to make it easy to scan and purposefully write tweets in a clever language.

Google+

Another social media site is considered as Google plus. Google plus also known as Google+ and owned by Google. It was initiated in June 2011 and similar to other social sites in that, it has the ability to post and share images and interesting things with groups rather than friends. Briefly put, Google plus grew rapidly due to the number of active users spent on this site even if it was for a short time. WhatSapp Messenger

WhatSapp messenger is an online free platform messaging like other social media services used to send unlimited messages, audio records, images, documents and voice calls. WhatSapp was discovered in 2009 by former employees of Yahoo Brian Acton and Jan Koum. The name whatSapp came from “what’s up” named by Koum.

This is an important finding in the understanding of whatSapp possession, as it was officially possessed by facebook. “On February 19, 2014, months after a venture capital financing round at a $1.5 billion valuation, Facebook announced it was acquiring WhatSapp for US$19 billion, its largest acquisition to date.”

YouTube

 YouTube is another popular social media website that used for videos sharing service, designed by The three employees of the PayPal bank accounts, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim in February 2005 and located in San Bruno, California. Internet users are attracted with this social media website in that it allow to view, upload, add to your favorites and share videos on computers and even on mobile phones as well as to subscribe to other YouTube users.  

   It also, has significant benefits in terms of business, as advertisers captivate attention of audience to raise traffic volumes for their business and reach millions of video viewers. YouTube allows marketers and learners to make their own videos and develop their creativity and literacy.

      In general, the majority of people use some of these types of social media sites, whether for personal, business or educational purposes. The social media websites have been invading the world for several years, there are plenty of them more than you can imagine, but we have tried to cover the most used ones in the meantime.
